Reflexology is a holistic treatment that works on the ancient belief that the whole body is mapped out onto the feet. By using a pressure point massage and stimulating all of the pressure points on the feet, the corresponding area of the body is stimulated.
This stimulation of the pressure points sends a calming, healing energy to the corresponding area of the body.
It is a deeply relaxing and balancing treatment that is gentle, non-invasive yet momentously effective.
As a qualified Aromatherapist, I am delighted to be able to offer Reflexology treatments that also include the use of aromatherapy essential oils. As a qualified Hypnotherapist, I can also combine the trance of hypnosis with Reflexology for a truly relaxing and unique treatment.
How does Reflexology work?
The application of pressure to feet sends a calming message from the peripheral nerves in the extremities to the central nervous system, which in turn signals the body to adjust the tension level. This enhances overall relaxation, brings internal organs and their systems into a state of optimum functioning, and increases blood supply (which brings additional oxygen and nutrients to cells and enhances waste removal). It positively, yet gently, affects all of the systems in the body.
The aim of the reflexology is to create homeostasis and balance.
Your Reflexology Treament
Included in your first reflexology treatment there is a FREE consultation where a detailed (and confidential) medical history will be taken. If you are under the care of any medical professional you may be asked to provide either verbal or written consent.
Your feet will then be cleansed with a hot towel and you will be invited to lie back and relax whilst a deep and relaxing warm up massage is performed on both feet. If your feet are sensitive, please let me know and we can adjust accordingly. It’s all about making you feel comfortable, so if there is anything you need or are worried about, please let me know.
When working on the feet I will use a variety of techniques – some of these are for relaxation but most are intended to address the reflexes of the feet. These reflex techniques typically apply deeper pressure to help stimulate deficient energy flow in the feet, in effect stimulating and relaxing the entire body.
A single treatment can be wonderfully relaxing, but the best results are achieved with regular treatments – having one or two treatments a week will help to kick-start the benefits and after that, a single treatment every four weeks works for most clients. Of course, a more intense treatment plan may be required when working with specific conditions. This will all be discussed with you at the time and the decision is yours.
In my experience, Reflexology is a wonderful treatment suitable for all people, of all ages. It supports and relaxes, boosts overall health and wellbeing, improves the ability to cope, helps through times of emotional turmoil and also supports with a variety of health challenges.
